Expert Dermaplaning Treatment

Dermaplaning is a beauty treatment using a medical scalpel to gently exfoliates the outer layer of dead skin cells and removes fine facial hair commonly known as “peach fuzz”, (technically called vellus hair).

It can be used as an alternative to laser treatments.

Dermaplaning Benefits

Dermaplaning reduces the appearance of shallow acne scars, fine lines and superficial hyperpigmentation. It also:

  • removes about 21 days worth of dead skin

  • increases absorption of topical products, moisturisers and serums

  • smoother surface and less application of make up and foundation

  • immediately diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

  • primes skin for chemical peel and Collagen Gold Facial Mask

  • creates a healthier and more radiant appearance

A full and thorough consultation is carried out before your treatment begins. Your facial will include a gentle double cleanse while steam opens pores and helps remove surface impurities and make-up. This will also help regulate the PH levels in the skin. Once the skin is clean and free from impurities the Dermaplane exfoliation is carried out using a sterile scalpal. Following the procedure an intensive, cool moisture mask tailored to your skin type will be applied. Whilst the cooling mask takes effect you will be offered a choice of hand or scalp massage. Following the removal of the mask a deep-hydration moisturiser is applied alongside an SPF40 moisturiser for post procedure protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Is dermaplaning the right treatment for me?

Dermaplaning can be done on any skin type however if you have acne we would advise a Theraputic Nimue Facial in the salon as an alternative. The reason for this is dermaplaning uses a scalpel, we wouldnt want to cause trauma to comprimised skin, so an alternative may be a better option until healed. Dermaplaning can also help reduce the appearance of shallow acne scars, fine lines and superficial hyperpigmentation.

+ Is a dermaplaning treatment safe and will it hurt?

Our suitably trained therapists will ensure that your treatment is extremely safe. There is no more risk to the skin than when you shave your legs. With hair removal such as waxing and threading, most people have the idea that all hair removal is painful, but dermaplaning is entirely painless.

+ How long does the treatment take? How often can I have it done?

Dermaplaning takes anywhere between 30-45 minutes and can be performed every four to six weeks. The treatment itself removes approximately 21 days worth of dead skin so it is important to let your skin rejuvenate before your next appointment.

+ Will it make hair grow back thicker and darker?

No. There are different types of hair that grow on the body; vellus hair and terminal hair. Vellus hair is found on most areas of the body except palms, soles, lips and genital areas, whereas terminal hairs are found on the scalp, underarms and pubic region. The soft and fine vellus hair grows back at the same rate and texture.
